Gold’s Gym Releasing Their Own Protein

To speak from experience, I have to tell on myself. I have used the same home gym equipment for roughly ten years. My Gold’s Gym home setup has been awesome. What is interesting is that I am almost positive that is was meant as a beginner weight set, yet it has held up very well. I’ll be honest, I am very hard on my weights. Like most of us, I can get mad when a lift doesn’t go the way that I want it to. Since I do most of my lifting at home when I am by myself, I have freedom to throw a whiny temper tantrum. After ten years of hard work and heavy weights, the Gold’s Gym home gym setup barely shows a scratch. I haven’t even deep cleaned the equipment in ten years and it is only slightly faded. The leather material on the bench hasn’t even been scratched once, miraculously!

I have even set down barbells on the bench and can do trap exercises on it. Let me put it this way, I have had weights that have needed replaced before my weight bench. There is actually a barbell resting on that equipment that is loaded with 115lbs. The barbell has been used for about six years and is severely bent and in need of replacing. If Gold’s Gym puts any of the quality of their home gym setups as they do into their upcoming supplements, the competition could be in big trouble. Yes, Gold’s Gym, the mecca for all bodybuilders and line of mega gyms is now releasing their own line of supplements. Currently, there is only a protein powder in the works but it looks really cool.

The signature black and yellow color scheme of Gold’s Gym is proudly presented on the labeling of the container. There is 24 grams of protein per serving in the Gold’s Gym supplement, which is about the average maybe a little bit more. If you thought that a new protein was all you were going to see being newly released by this company, think again. Also in the works will be kitchen appliances made by Gold’s Gym, including a mini grill. I love my George Foreman grill with a passion but if Gold’s enters the market, my loyalty will definitely be tempted. Gold’s Gym is a company that is certainly showing no signs of slowing down. People are wanting to get in better shape and this business is right there with gyms located all over the country! As much as I have wanted to, I am currently unable to find the Gold’s Gym protein as it has not been released yet.

From what I’ve seen that has been publicly released, it looks like this company is starting out with two flavors, cookies and cream and vanilla. However, stay tuned to when this supplement is being officially released, as there could be more new flavors. This protein will be 100% whey which is what a lot of companies are using in their protein powder. However, those with special dietary needs may need to look elsewhere for a protein that can help them. Many people should be looking forward to this release of what appears to be a superior protein powder by an awesome company. Ensure that you have the mouse ready when these powders are being released, as I have a feeling that they will sell very quickly.

What to do When You’ve Pulled A Muscle

I recently dealt with one of the scariest moments of my life. After feeling somewhat back to normal, I knew that I needed to do a write-up of what happened to me, so that no one else lives in fear like I did. This real life incident happened a few nights ago. I had just gotten done working out which I had been doing while I was a bit under the weather. I probably should have just sat down and enjoyed one more day of rest before waking up the next day and going straight to the weights. However, as men sometime do, I let my pride get the best of me and decided that I wanted to lift, no matter how I felt.

The workout itself was going great. Not once did I feel like I needed extra rest time or an additional break. To say the least, I was the master of the weight room and nothing would stop me, or so I thought. After finishing up the workout, I got all cleaned up and headed home to catch up on a few television shows I was missing. After sitting down for about ten minutes, I coughed hard. Almost immediately after coughing, I felt an extremely sharp pain rip up the right side of my stomach, towards my back. It was such an odd experience that I struggle to describe how it felt. If I had to, I would say that my cough had produced a feeling like someone had jabbed a sharp object through my back and into my internal organs.

I decided to start taking in smaller breaths, convinced that this would stop the pain, but nothing would make the sharp pain go away. Eventually, I would lie down on my side, on a heating blanket hoping that I could start finally feeling relief. The pain would go on for about 20 more agonizing minutes before it finally stopped. I didn’t want to wake up the other people in my house, as it was now late at night, but I feared I was going to end up having to go to the hospital. Luckily, I haven’t noticed the pain coming back from any recent activity. I would be lying if I said I won’t be very apprehensive the next time I pick up a pair of weights. As you probably know, what happened to cause me all of that pain I felt was a muscle pull. When someone is experiencing a muscle pull, unless it just happened, most will go into a state of panic. I experienced the first muscle pull I’ve had in years and it is just as scary as the first time this ailment happened.

If you find yourself at the mercy of a horrible muscle injury, remember the most important acronym that got me through mine: R.I.C.E. This acronym is a series of procedures that should be done for anyone who has injured themselves. Rest the muscles which means stop exerting yourself. Place ice on the muscles and compress them together. Finally, elevate the affected area to properly execute each step of the RICE method. I can’t count how many times following the four previously mentioned steps for sore muscle relief have saved me. I’m very happy that I’ve experienced no further pain but I will be taking it light on the next lifting day for my back.

Making the Most of A Packed Gym

As many are excited to rush off to the gym, eager to beat their resolutions, the ones who always showed up have to suffer. I try my best to be accommodating to those new lifters but sometimes, it gets annoying. To make matters worse, with every crowded gym will be a handful of people who have no idea what they are doing. Not only a liability, these people can be downright reckless with how they exercise. I wanted to help you out, the next time that you come in contact with an overcrowded gym with some helpful tips.

Tip Number One: Have a Plan that Can Be Adjusted
As a gym starts to become increasingly crowded, you’ll likely feel like you trapped. You should always have a plan with every workout, no matter what. Following a strict plan can have you wanting to pull your hair out when a crowd throws a wrench into it. Fear not, by having backup lifts and machines to use, you will never run into a situation where you feel trapped. Chances are, any lift that you were going to do originally has a variation that you can now try. If you’re focusing on hitting your chest and the benches are taken, grab dumbbells and start doing flyes. The point is that our muscles don’t have to use one specific machine to get a full workout in.

Tip Number Two: Supersets Save Time
If the gym floor is becoming increasingly, it might be time to get out as fast as you can.

Don’t start heading for the door just yet, you can still complete your workout. Using supersets is a great way to beat the clock, without having to cut out parts of your workout regimen. A superset is the process of combining two or more lifts together that target different body parts. If you were to do two back-to-back sets of barbell curls in a row, the second one would be much harder. The idea behind a superset would have doing a set of barbell curls, followed immediately by another lift that targets different muscles.

Tip Number Three: Try Out Machines You Don’t Normally Use
Many people view a crowded gym as a hassle that they don’t want to deal with. Instead of a negative way of thinking, use this as an opportunity. It’s common to fall into a routine where you continue to do the same workout. Not only is a stale workout regimen boring, it’s bad for your muscle growth. Muscles that aren’t properly shocked into learning new weightlifting methods will not grow as much as they should. Take the opportunity for a crowded workout center to inspire a new routine. Make use of machines that have no crowding around them. Chances are, you’ll end up having a great workout and there won’t be people all around you.

The next time you pull in to the parking lot of a gym and see that it is crowded, resist the urge to go back home. Instead, make your way inside, don’t let other people stop you from achieving your fitness goals. The feeling of accomplishment that comes with finishing a workout feels great. However, knowing that you didn’t let a packed house stop you from lifting feels even better! Most likely, a large majority of those people will never have the dedication that you do.

Are Pull-Ups Being Forgotten Too Soon?

It’s no secret that technology is driving the change behind how we exercise. One particular lift that I’ve not seen people do lately would be the pull up. You may remember this exercise from those old school days, I remember barely being able to do one of them. Maybe all of the ridicule that I endured from my friends led me to become the person I am today. After gym class, it’s a shame that a large portion will never perform a pull up for the rest of their lives. Although it may not look like an impressive exercise to those who are seeing them, trying one really puts you to the test. When I got serious about my weightlifting, I knew that I had to revisit the embarrassment that was associated with my first fateful attempt to pull up anything.

Bodyweight exercises are some of the most beneficial that you can do, meaning you pull/push however much you weigh. I don’t get why some put down training that involves bodyweight only, casting it off as not being effective. I don’t know about you, but after two weeks of pure bodyweight training, it’s easy to notice more muscle growth. The one drawback to trying to start doing pull ups, without the aid of an expensive gym, is that this exercise does require adequate support. We’ve all cringed and laughed at the online videos of someone trying to do pull ups, using a door frame, we all know what happens next. After watching endless amount of people get slammed down to the floor, like they were thrown down by some imaginary force, I didn’t want to take any risks.

I don’t blame you if you are more than a bit apprehensive about attempting your first pull up, don’t put pressure on yourself that it has to go perfectly. So, why do people hate doing pull ups and what’s up with the negative stigma around them? I think the answer to why the pull ups aren’t popular is because they are difficult to properly do. After all, there aren’t many different exercises that deserve a pat on the back if you complete one rep, I would say that the pull up is one of the rare few. In addition, I believe that the act of a pull up being so foreign is another barrier to it’s lack of popularity.

The concept of movement needed to push or pull a weight is fairly common to most of us, we all move things throughout the day. On the contrary, I don’t imagine hardly any of us regularly try and pull our body weight off of the ground, it can be an unnatural feeling, at first. With practice, you’ll come to find out just how great pull ups are for strength and conditioning. Primarily working the back and shoulder muscles, doing pull ups can transform a weak back into an ever-growing mass machine! If you don’t have the specific equipment needed to properly carry out pull ups, don’t worry, you can always get a bit creative. With any of the methods, you do take your safety into your hands, remember that accidents can always happen. That being said, I find that a sturdy tree is great for doing pull ups, if I have no other way to do them. I’ve heard of some using their roof but I’ve not tried that, as it sounds like a great way to rip off your gutter, leaving you with many more problems than how to do a pull up.

Why A Former Ectomorph Made A Big Diet Change

For those who don’t know, an ectomorph is one of the three body types we all fall under. I wanted to pay special attention to the type that makes up the ectomorph because that is the type that I am. For those like us, we find that when we eat, the food goes somewhere but it doesn’t show on us. I remember having to, due to constantly being on the road, had to drop weightlifting out of my life for a month or two. All of the sudden, I had close friends asking if I was getting sick or what had happened to me, like I had returned to them a different person. I was starting to notice that my shirts and pants were feeling a little bit baggier but certainly not the cause for alarm that everyone else must have thought it was. I won’t go into detail with the accusations that were made about my new look, which I tried to explain, only to have my perfectly logical reason fall right on deaf ears, thanks, family!

Gaining Weight Can Be Done by Anyone

What I found was that the unkind words (all in good fun, I suppose) had got to me and I slimwas coming back to weightlifting with an entirely new attitude. What was funny was that, with the lower body fat percentage I had from not training, the muscle was showing up clearer than before. When an ectomorph starts to really bulk up, it is natural for them to start thinking about getting more defined. I’ve told everyone who asks about the subject that bodybuilding isn’t something you are going to be a pro at in a month, or even in a year, although it does happen. For a vast majority of people, you’ll have your trial and error moments, they help you grow.
That new attitude didn’t just reach me in my training sessions, it followed me to the supermarket. I now hunted down foods that were calorie dense, with a mix of proteins and good fats. I felt that the joke was on everyone that had poked fun at me, in the time it took for the muscle to fade away, it started coming back.

Gelatin For Damaged Joints

It turns out that consuming gelatin isn’t just for those who want a nice dessert, there are other benefits to this food. You don’t have to be an endurance runner to suffer from joint damage. Even our workplace can sometimes be a cause of those annoying joint aches that linger on. If you are someone that can deal with day to day aches, that’s great, but for others, the pain can become too much. We all live vastly different lives and some are putting their joints under more strain than others. Oftentimes, it is those who put their joints under a massive amount of stress at a younger age, that begin to feel the effects as they get older. My stepdad was a bit of a wild man in his day, and he loved his motorcycles. Since he is a stepparent, it should go without saying that I didn’t personally know him in his younger days, just hearing what I could through the stories that he tells me. One night, this guy went out on his motorcycle on a rainy night and ended up violently crashing his bike, and his body was to suffer damage as well. This man was rushed to the hospital, after someone saw what had happened. My stepdad would end up being confined to a hospital bed for many months, thankfully never having to go into a coma. After the long healing process, this didn’t mean that my stepdad would be safe for lingering pain for too long.

jelly

Now well into his fifties, it is hard for my stepdad to sit down for long amounts of time, as his hips bore the brunt of the wreckage in the motorcycle accident. I’ve seen the scars that were the result of such a tremendous crash and it helped me figure out that I have no want to buy a motorcycle for myself. When I recently went to visit him, I saw that his cabinets were stocked with Jello, I had never known him to have a sweet tooth. What he told me made perfect sense, he had started regularly eating gelatin because it was making his joint feel more relaxed, like he could sit and rest more often. This man, now proudly eating his Jello for lunch was once a bad news biker that didn’t take anything from anyone, I had to chuckle to myself.

It’s not just my stepdad that is getting used to this dessert as a way to make muscles feel better. You don’t have to be in your fifties to start undertaking the benefits of gelatin for your joints, you can start now. I personally love gelatin and it makes for a fun and not so unhealthy dessert option, especially when I’m trying to keep my weight down. I usually prefer the grape and cherry flavors but, if you don’t know yet, there might not be another food with more flavor choices than gelatin but if you prefer, there is also unflavored gelatin that is often used for cooking. No matter how you choose to cook with it, gelatin is turning out to be a viable choice for repairing joints and muscles that have been worn down by everyday use. What have you tried that is uncommonly used to help out daily muscle pain? Leave what works best for you in the comments section, I’d love to know!

Reebok Releases Shoes Honoring Weightlifter

Taking the world by storm, there is a person lifting weights named CJ Cummings and his tale is quite an inspirational one. When I was CJ’s age, I was running with a bad crowd and getting mized up in a really bad scene. Had I been more like CJ, I could have spent those years taking care of myself. Known as the Legacy Lifter, these new shoes that are made by Reebook are a great pair for any aspiring weightlifter to put on. You might not get the strength that CJ is able to have but they are very comfortable and designed to help you breeze through your exercising. The shoes even have Cumming’s signature on the attire themselves, making it a great pair of shoes to gain some extra attention. As great as they look, these shoes are more than just nice looking footwear.

I had a tough enough time with trying to manage my grades and graduate, I couldn’t imagine how it must feel to accomplish so much as such a young age, as CJ Cummings has done. I am almost positive that he will continue to gain strength at a very fast pace. Already setting records and even breaking his own, Cummings has a mixture of pure talent and great genetics that don’t come along very often. With so much potential, I look forward to seeing CJ take many different medals and awards, throughout his career that has only just begun. One thing is for sure, CJ doesn’t let his fame go to his head, he is currently finishing up his degree. I have to give CJ props for choosing to put his focus, not just on weightlifting, but to also have a back up plan and to go for his education. There aren’t too many good role models left in the world of sports but that could soon change with one weightlifter who is determined to become the best. Trials and tribulations are certain to be around every potential corner but I don’t see that getting to CJ. I am sure that he is taking a bit of time to celebrate the release of his awesome new shoes.

I love the black and gold coloring, as some other weightlifting shoes that I have seen are way too busy looking for me to ever consider putting them on. For those who haven’t had time to see the shoe, you should really go and check it out. The heel on this shoe is made from a sturdy material, making sure that you have the proper support when you are trying your best to be like CJ Cummings. I can’t say enough how cool the shoe actually looks, it is classic with a newfound style that is all it’s own. The shoe retails for about $199 and is made by Reebook, with some advice and specifications from CJ himself. I wouldn’t be surprised if these shoes don’t sell out quickly, as Cummings has a huge following. I can see many people who don’t even know who Cummings is running out to get these shoes, just because of how cool they look. I hope that Cummings is able to have his opinion on more shoes, in the future, as the Legacy Lifters seem to only be the beginning between Cummings and Reebook. Having a good pair of weightlifting shoes is an investment that will keep you safe and strong.

Is Diet Soda Bad for Trying to Lose Weight?

When trying to cut out what has caused those nasty fat gains, you might be quick to jump to beverages that you drink. One big culprit for where most find their empty calories going to would be soda, there is no denying that. Soda companies have done all that they can to try and make soda more appealing to a more health-conscious generation and there have been hits and misses. It isn’t really surprising that people think they are doing themselves a favor, once they substitute regular soda for the diet option, can you blame them? If you think about it, it sounds like a great trade, you get the same soda taste, without the extra calories that are associated with it. What findings are showing is that diet soda that you are about to have at lunch could be holding back your weight loss progress.

carbonated

As it turns out, the attitude that you feel from missing out on those soda calories could easily be put back right into an extra snack. Let me put it this way, let’s say that Karen is drinking diet soda in the morning. At first, she feels very proud of herself because she is already getting a jumpstart on her diet, way to go, Karen. Here is where trouble starts, at lunch, Karen has been drinking diet soda all day and figures that she deserves a reward. Skipping out on her normal lunch of tuna, Karen decides that she has deserved a candy bar. I mean, after all, it is just one candy bar and she has drank diet soda all day, so she should be good, right?

Wrong, that little candy bar just offset all of the work and dedication that it took Karen to drink those diet sodas all day. Yes, you can end up overindulging more with drinking diet soda than you would with the regular carbonated beverage. I might be an exception to the rule but I actually enjoy diet soda, as it always helps me to trim down quickly. My stomach looks entirely different when I have cut out regular soda for a month, as compared to when I am only drinking diet. As you can plainly see, the way that you think is just as big of a part of diet success as anything else would be.

It seems that now, it isn’t the mental aspects of drinking diet soda that could come into play when wreaking havoc on your diet, it now looks that a special sweetener is under fire. Aspartame, the signature sweetener in most diet soda that is mainly responsible for delivering that signature taste is drawing the ire of some scientists who suggest that this ingredient is not as healthy as we have thought it to be. As someone who will occasionally have the urge to cut out some fat in their meals, I find diet soda to be an awesome choice. I don’t know if I will ever fully give up my addiction to soda but having the diet option, when I absolutely must lose weight is a nice security net for me. I’ll likely never switch over to drinking only water, no matter how much I tell myself that I should. Are you still going to maintain the need to get your diet soda fix?

What Should You Use to Bulk Up?

Every weightlifter who aspires for greatness wants to become bigger. What isn’t as easy as coming up with that goal would be the supplements that you use to achieve your dreams. As you see, you can bulk up properly from two main sources: supplements and food. It isn’t uncommon to hear some who are strictly about eating to gain muscle and leaving the supplements alone.

While I do understand where the food only mindset comes from, I’ve always found it much easier to bulk up quickly by combining the right foods, along with a select few supplements. In the video below, you can get a great source of where to start in finding the right supplements for bulking up. Now, in this video, it is tailored more to those of us who are starting out skinny. If you would say that you don’t have that skinny frame, it is all good, the tips will still work for those who have a little more meat on their bones.

Protein is always going to be the classic choice for slow, but steady bulking. I have used whey protein for nearly a decade and, no matter what wild news I hear, I don’t see myself not making my protein shakes anytime soon. Creatine is a supplement that I often hear as a great base supplement for starting out your bulk and it’s one I’ve found success with. I have to say, what is much more crucial than the food you eat or the supplements you use would be that you are consistently lifting weights.

All of the best supplements in the world can’t save you if you aren’t giving it your all, anytime that you step foot into a weight room. Much of how bulky you become is directly related to your willpower. Supplements are amazing for shortening recovery, adding a bit of extra mass, and giving you energy. However, at the end of the day, the strength you find to really get bulkier has to do with the actual work you put in. The main ingredients I would look out for, if you are really set to bulk up the right way would be: arginine, creatine, glutamine, and protein.

As far as I am concerned, the world is all too full of those who want you to believe what they do, I’m not that kind of person. Instead, I will start with bringing you all of the latest bodybuilding news, not just competition information. As you know, to begin a bodybuilding regimen isn’t just a choice that you make one day and coast down a path of easy gains. More people, than ever, are finding that to really get the most out of what life has to offer, they enjoy spending their time working out. One of the best ways that we can learn from the past, is to know more about it. Along with what is trending in the world of bodybuilding, I don’t want anyone to think that will leave out the legends of the past.

To be completely truthful, a lot of us could really improve our current program if we would stop focusing on every new invention and had a stable program, built from the foundations of past legends. You had also better believe that when the new big time bodybuilding competitions are happening, we will be full to the brim with all sorts of news. You might be wondering why I love bringing you news about the bodybuilding way of life, which I can certainly understand. My love for everything having to do with bodybuilding began when I was younger. My parents were heavily involved in their local gym and they were a strong couple that also had time to share their kind hearts with the world. I was never specifically pushed into getting into amazing shape, it was just something that I found myself falling into. Growing up in a rough city, I had to do what I could to keep my head up and my nose out of trouble. After a few times with falling into bad crowds, my very angry parents had suggested that I take up their hobby of choice.

At first, I had no idea what I was doing with a set of weights in my hand! If any of you are just starting out and think that you will feel out of place, it would be close to impossible to do worse than I first did. I remember a horror story of when it came time for me to load up a barbell, with no one informing me of how important it was to keep weight on both sides of the bar. Having a barbell whip towards your head, thanks to gravity, was a scary experience that I have never forgotten, to this very day. Everyone has to start somewhere and I’m so glad that you have chosen to start viewing this website. Week in and week out, I will be posting all kinds of neat information so be sure to keep coming back here.
